Despite doubts about funding, race organisers remain confident that the eighth annual Men's Health Forum 10K will be held in Glasgow on 16 June in 2013. The race will not receive any funding from the Scottish government this year and so is looking at alternative means of generating the money needed to organise the event. Several attractive sponsorship opportunities are still available for the big summer 10k.
One charity has pledged its support to the race for 2013-2015, but there are still various other opportunities for businesses. Organisers are offering flexible and tailored packages that include branding opportunities, logos/links on printed and online promotion, access to 1500 Facebook fans and 750 Twitter followers, direct targeting of over 12,000 men on database/during online registration, and an opportunity for co-branded media campaigns and competitions
The inaugural Men's Health 10K took place in 2006 aiming to engage men in healthy physical activity, promoting long term health and wellbeing. The race takes place in Bellahouston Park, Glasgow on Father's Day during Men's Health Week. Organisers are also asking members of the public to help save the race, saying:
"The Men's 10K team is applying for grants and looking at every available sponsorship opportunity, but as we know our biggest and best resource is our wonderful men, supporters and volunteers! If you and every other person who's ever been a part of our great event raised just £1 and was able to get 19 friends to do the same, then we've worked out that the Men's 10k would live to run another year!"
