In anticipation of the 9th Meadows Marathon on the 8 March 2015, a special 'Trick of Treat' themed 5K Halloween Fun Run will be held on 29 October. Organised entirely by Edinburgh student volunteers, the fun run is aimed at students of all abilities as a great way of keeping fit whilst enjoying life at university.
The run will act as a taster of the main event held in March which will also feature a 5k, as well as a 10k, half marathon and full marathon. Organisers suggest using the fun run to kick start your training programme and mark the beginning of your fundraising efforts. Previous years have seen thousands of runners take part, raising up to £35k for charity.
As the theme is ‘Trick or Treat', Meadows Marathon encourages fancy dress and are urging participants to be creative with their costumes. Unusual ideas are considered but must be cleared by the organisers for safety reasons.
Registration for the event begins at 7pm on 29 October and you can sign up online through the Meadows Marathon website. The cost is £10, including a T shirt, an after party at WhyNot and a free shot at Malones. The run will take place in the Edinburgh Meadows and clues to the route will be released in the run up to the big day. If you are unable to take part in the fun run you can volunteer to help during the event, this is a great CV booster and a fun way to participate.
