The wine-fuelled Medoc Marathon returns to the south of France on 10 September with a 'Tales and Legends' theme for 2016. First established in 1896, the event sees thousands of participants dress up to take on the distance while sampling some of the finest wines Bordeaux has to offer.
The course is a single loop that winds its way round a circuit of over 50 chateaux, taking runners over country roads and through small villages. There are 23 drink stations offering both wine and water as well as French bread stuffed with foie gras and energy boosting bananas and oranges.
You can sample culinary delights and meet fellow runners before the event at a pasta party. There’s also the option of a Walk & Lunch around a nearby chateau which attracts almost 4,000 people. The race field is limited to 8,500 so runners are advised to enter early to avoid disppointment.
