The Scottish Marathon Championships will again be held within Virgin Money London Marathon for 2017. The Championships were held at this year’s London Marathon as part of a pilot by the Road Running and Cross Country Commission.
This year’s event saw impressive performances from brothers Callum and Derek Hawkins, and Tsegai Tewelde with all three running under the Olympic qualifying standard of 2:14 for GB men.
Championship entries open in November with the men’s qualifying times historically being 1:15 for the half marathon and 2:45 for the marathon. The women’s qualifying times are historically 1:30 for the half marathon and 3:15 for the marathon.
London Marathon will also be part of the Road Running Grand Prix for the second successive year and there could be a Commonwealth Games qualifying element to the event.
‘Good for Age’ entries are open until 5pm on 20 June. To enter, visit the event website.
