London Marathon Ballot Starting Line

The cheers for the Virgin London Marathon 2011 have hardly died away and already we can hear the drumbeats for 2012. The ballot for next year's race opens tomorrow - Tuesday, April 26 and anyone interested in trying to secure a place through the ballot should act immediately.

Last year the ballot closed with 125,000 applicants in just over one day so visit the London marathon website soon to enter the ballot. Applicants will be notified whether they have been successful or not in securing a place later in the year.

If you'd like to run a marathon in spring 2012, but the limited opportunities to run at London are deterring you, then consider entering the classic distance events at Brighton or Edinburgh and look out for proposed new marathons in Milton Keynes and Sunderland in 2012.
