TV star Carol Smillie is making a final call for people across Scotland to highlight their own community champions and nominate them to take part in the Queen's Baton Relay when the baton returns to Scotland. 4,000 inspirational people are being sought as batonbearers on the 40 day Scottish journey next year.
Carol is reminding the Scottish public that there is just one week left to nominate someone as a batonbearer and have the opportunity to take part in this unique event. She said: "Commonwealth Games Scotland and Glasgow 2014 are looking for people from all over the country who are active in their local communities. It could be your best friend, your mum, your neighbour, teacher, school pupil or colleague - someone you know who makes a difference.
Carol added: "It doesn't have to be someone who is highly prominent or particularly well-known - they could be a completely unsung hero - just someone you think deserves a chance to take part in this amazing relay. This is your chance to say 'thank-you' for their contribution."
Nominations for batonbearers can be made via the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games website. They close on Friday, 22 November.
