Opportunities are running out for those wanting to enter cycling's answer to London marathon. Ride London will take place in August and will be the world's largest charity fund-raising mass participation cycling race. Registration closes tomorrow - Friday 4 January.
New for 2013 the event, backed by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, will cover a 100 mile route from the city into Surrey and back using much of the same route employed for the Olympic cycling road races at London 2012. Around 20,000 cyclists are expected to take part.
Taking place over the weekend of 3-4 August, the festival of cycling will also include an elite race, a Grand Prix event for leading junior racers and Freecycle, a family orientated non-competitive cycle through the central London streets.
