Limited places in all events still remain for this Sunday's (12 August) Lanark Trail Festival. Entries close for the fourth edition of this popular event for all ages and abilities on Thursday (9 August).
This year’s roster of events includes the return of the 10k trail run (for the over 16s) and a 5k trail run (for all ages, with runners under 8 requiring adult supervision).
But the 2018 festival also sees the addition of a new event for children aged 5–12, a timed 1k fun run held on the flat, grassy surface of the racecourse.
Other children’s events include the free Junior Lanimer Cup races (with distances between 50m and 800m for children up to age 12) and a Junior Off-Road duathlon (for children aged 8–14).
After crossing the line, all Junior Lanimer Cup runners will receive a small memento. All children taking part in the inaugural 1k fun run will receive a medal and a T-shirt.
As you’d expect from a trail running festival, the 5k and 10k courses travel though a mix of gravel, grass and woodland/cycle trails.
The 5k course starts at Lanark Racecourse and heads down towards Lanark Loch. From there participants run a full loop of the loch then head back up towards the racecourse. Before entering the racecourse runners turn into the woods and the cycle path before re-joining the racecourse for a final lap.
The 10k route is a challenging double circuit of the 5k.
All 5k and 10k finishers will receive Lanark-themed medals and T-shirts.
Entries can be made on Entry Central; limited places may also be available on the day.
Places in the Lanimer Cup children’s races must be booked with Lanark Lifestyles on 01555 666800.
Race numbers can be collected from the reception at Lanark Lifestyles up to Friday 10 August or on race day from 08:30.
