Mark Sunday 8 September 2019 in your running diary for one of the biggest events in Inverclyde's sporting calendar, the Kilmacolm Running Festival.
Now a scottishathletics licensed event, it is run under UK Athletics rules. There’s a half marathon, 10K and 3K option and Inverclyde Leisure have done everything to make this an enjoyable event for runners and the people of Inverclyde alike so it’s sure to be a fun filled day for all the family!
All races start at the Birkmyre Park Fitness Gym. The first event of the day is the Toddle Woddle which starts at 9am for a walk/run around Birkmyre Park. No pre-registration is required.
The 3k race will start at 9.15am, and then it’s on to the more serious stuff with the half marathon starting at 10am and the 10K at 10.30am. Registration will begin at 8am and will be open until 30 minutes prior to each specific race start time.
On the day entries are available on Sunday 8 September again with registration required a minimum of 30 minutes prior to scheduled start time of event.
Runners make their way through the streets of the village, surrounding countryside and along the cycle path for the 10K and half marathon before returning to the Birkmyre Fitness Gym for the finish. There will be three water stations on the 10K and half marathon routes at Whitelea Crescent and at the 10K and half marathon turns with bottles of water and bananas available at the finish line.
Toilet facilities will be provided and changing facilities will be available at Birkmyre Park Fitness Gym. Marshals will line the routes to assist and encourage you along the way.
