Legendary sky runner Kilian Jornet will be heading to Scotland this autumn for the Salomon Glencoe Skyline race. The 29-year-old from Sabadell, Spain is a six-time champion of the Skyrunner World Series and holds the fastest known time for the ascent and descent of Matterhorn, Mont Blanc and Denali.
Jornet also organises the Tromsø SkyRace with his partner and fellow sky runner Emelie Forsberg.
The Glencoe event was launched as Scotland’s first sky running event in 2015, combining mountain running and alpinism (mountain climbing). This year’s event will be held from 15–17 September and features Vertical (1K), Ultra (110K), Classic (29K), and Extreme (55K) races. The 55k race will again act as the finale of the three-race Skyrunner World EXTREME Series.
Ian Corless, who has been a photographer at the race in previous years, said: “It’s never good to pinpoint one person, but when Kilian Jornet confirms that he will come to the UK and race in the series that is worth shouting about!”
