Judy Murray, mother of tennis sensation Andy, has added her backing to the Beat Beethoven Fun Run on Sunday (20 October). The race returns for a second year on Sunday following the success of the inaugural event in 2012.
Organised by the Rotary Club of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane, the event is based on a Canadian race and will be held at the University of Stirling. Participants will attempt to run 5k or walk 2.7K in the time it takes to play Beethoven's Fifth Symphony (around 35 minutes). The course is flat and is mostly on lochside trails. All entrants receive a medal and those who finish within the time will receive a certificate.
Judy said: "I really like the idea of the Beat Beethoven Fun Run. It's a great idea for raising money for the Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) and Parkinson's UK. My best wishes for a very successful event."
Race organiser, Paddy Holmes, added: "Beethoven's Fifth is a stirring piece of music which is instantly recognisable. We hope it inspires lots of runners to run our 5k."
There are still places available at the event. To enter, visit the Beat Beethoven website.
