The SalClear Isle of Man Marathon and half marathon will return to its traditional mid-August date after staging last year's event in July. Set for Sunday 11 August, the event has become an attractive destination for UK runners and was listed in the Independent's top ten alternatives to London marathon.
Starting at the Mooragh Promenade and finishing in the Ballacloan Stadium in Ramsey, the course is said to be flat to undulating with picturesque scenery throughout. The marathon route consists of two laps on the same circuit. Organised by the Isle of Man Veteran Athletes' Club, last year's marathon saw Manx Harriers' Edward Gumbley take first place with a time of 2:45:08. Karen Mickle was top female, coming home in 3:41:09.
Both events are priced at £21.50, or £26.50 for unattached runners. Entries close on 1 August. More information is available on the event website.
