There's just over two weeks until Scotland's fifth parkrun launches in Inverness. Bught Park is the venue, and Saturday, September 3 is the date. Parkrun started in Scotland on Saturday, December 6, 2008 when 44 runners turned up at Pollok Park. In October the following year, Edinburgh parkrun joined the calendar with Strathclyde parkrun arriving in April of last year.
Last month saw parkrun 4 in Scotland with a new event at Callendar Park, Falkirk. The Falkirk run has quickly established itself and is already attracting 100 plus each week. With the addition of Inverness it is likely that parkrun in Scotland will reach the landmark total of 1,000 runners on one day soon.
parkrun is the free 5K timed run that takes place each week (Saturday) at 9.30am. Participants need to register in advance and can do that at the parkrun website.
Glasgow parkrun is cancelled on September 17, 2011 because of the City of Glasgow International Highland Cattle Show taking place in Pollok Park on that day.
