The 18th Portsoy 10K was held alongside the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival in Aberdeenshire on Sunday (23 June). The event featured the 'Follow the Herring' 10k and a 2k Fun Run, both starting at Recreation Park.
Ben Hukins finished fastest male in the 10K, completing the course in 32:22, with David Munro 19 seconds behind him in 32:41. The women's race was won by Gemmar Cormack in 39:34 with the midpoint runner Murray Imlach (49:14).
The 10K course took runners towards Sandend, turning inland to climb up Durn Hill, down past Damheads before going past Durn Cottages, Durn Farm and Durn House then heading into Portsoy and onto the route of the old railway track to the harbour, finishing at Shore Inn.
Garrioch Roadrunner, Christine Drysdale, who finished seventh in the women's race said afterwards: "Portsoy is one of my favourite races, with a great downhill finish right into the heart of the Scottish Traditional Boat Festival. The thought of being only a few kilometres away from a drink and a BBQ when the going gets tough towards the end almost makes up for the long, slow hill in the middle!
"There was a nice goody bag too, with plenty to eat and drink to keep me going for a busy day at the Festival. It's a great family day out, and I didn't feel too guilty about sampling everything going in the Food Hall afterwards, especially Portsoy's own ice cream!"
