A Highland experience without the hills awaits runners this Sunday (15 October) at Aviemore Half Marathon and 10K. Organisers are hoping that the weather forecast of a dry and mild day will help contribute to another fantastic event.
Starting 1100ft above sea level and the Cairngorm Mountains providing a spectacular backdrop, the half marathon begins with seven miles of forest tracks through Glenmore Forest Park and Glenmore village before crossing the road and onto another forest track around Loch Morlich and then onto the main road continuing past Coylumbridge and Inverdruie.
As runners approach the finish a warm welcome is guaranteed along the busy Aviemore Main Street. The 10k begins at Glenmore and finishes at the same point as the half marathon.
Conditions are a mixture of good solid forest track, paths and tarmac roads - a normal good supportive running shoe is required.
On Saturday (14 October) there’s fitness for all the family with a fantastic traffic-free one-mile Fun Run around Macdonald Aviemore Highland Resort.
