Top Scots Launch Training Service

Two of Scotland's top athletes Derek and Callum Hawkins have launched an online training resource - Hawkins Running.  The brothers (pictured) are offering guidance at distances from 10k to marathon and utilising the expertise they have built-up developing from club hopefuls to leading UK endurance runners.

Derek represented Scotland in last year's Commonwealth Marathon and was first Brit at the 2013 London Marathon while Callum's cv includes the all-time fastest British u23 time for half marathon at the Great Scottish Run in 2014 (awaiting confirmation).

Hawkins Running is currently offering a number of special deals on personalised training packages for runners aiming for big autumn events like Loch Ness and Berlin Marathon, and the Great Scottish Run.  They are also offering a discounted rate for their 12 week programmes for Paisley 10K, Loch Ness 10K and Great Scottish Run Half Marathon.

Derek Hawkins told runABC Scotland:  "The races we have selected build on my marathon background and our experience at specific events. Paisley 10K is our local race and people would be getting programmes from two former winners while we have both been first Brit at the Great Scottish Run - Callum also won the 10k in 2013.

"Our comprehensive approach includes initial coach-runner background discussion, weekly personal training programme, email/phone feedback and lifestyle and cross-training advice. Our individual training plans are suitable for beginners to elite level athletes and there are a number of options available.

"Our programmes are not one size fits all and are personalised. We set schedules based on the information you give us - your training history, when you can train and how much time you have available.

"Both Callum and myself have come through from beginner to competing at World Championships.  In my first National XC I was 7th Kilbarchan runner home and Callum never made the top 30 so we’ve experienced different levels of athletics and can relate to people at various standards."
