Hats All Folks

Runners in hats

Race organisers are asking participants to get their running caps on for a new event in Ayr this month. Run It With A Bunnet is a 6k fun run and will be held on 24 March as part of National Brain Tumour Awareness month.

Runners of all abilities are welcome, with the only requirement being you must wear a hat. The scenic, traffic-free course starts at Dam Park Stadium in Ayr and follows the River Ayr. As well as first male and female prizes, there will also be a third prize for best hat. In addition to the 6k there will be a 1k run for children.

The runs are organised by Brainrunners - a group of 54 runners who are taking part in Edinburgh marathon this year. They said of the event: "Our aim is to have a bit of fun, look a bit silly and raise some money for a great cause. Do not think you have to run the full 6k - just aim to get round!

"We are raising money to fund paediatric brain tumour research, with all funds raised going to a specific team at the Institute of Cancer Research."

The event costs £10 for adults and £3 for children. For more information visit the Run It With A Bunnet Facebook page and to enter the race, visit Entry Central.
