The final race of the HEB 3 Challenge takes place on Saturday (5 July) as the isle of Harris hosts the Harris Half Marathon. The challenge is to complete at least three of the five of Western Isles and Skye half marathons (Stornoway, Harris, Benbecula, Barra or Skye) in any one year.
The race, organised by Stornoway Running and Athletics Club, gives participants spectacular views of some of the world's most beautiful sandy beaches, starting at Borve Lodge and running along the coastline. Competitors should keep an eye out for Taransay, the island featured on television show Castaway, before the road turns east and passes the vast expanse of Luskentyre Beach - recently voted one of the top seven beaches in the world.
Then comes the interesting challenge of the 140m ascent (a water stop with sweets awaits you at the top) beyond which you can view Tarbert in the distance and enjoy the last four miles of (mostly) descent with breathtaking views over the Minch to Skye on the right.
Organisers advise participants to 'enjoy the scenery - it might make you run faster'.
As a reward for all the hard work, participants will be given custom-made medal ribbons hand sewn by Catherine at Harris Tweed Isle of Harris.
