Peterhead football fans will get the chance to meet their favourite players at this year’s Peterhead Running Festival. The event, now in its fourth year, will be held on 29 June and includes a half marathon, 5k (part of the jogscotland Challenge series) and School Fun Runs.
Peterhead FC will be open for visitors on the day, giving participants the chance to meet and be photographed with their favourite Peterhead players and the club’s mascot Sammy the Scurry. There will also be tours of the club’s stadium Balmoor Stadium.
More than 700 people took part in last year’s event and the 2014 Peterhead Running Festival is expected to attract an even bigger field.
Organisers said: “We are planning many other events and entertainments for the day, in conjunction with the running festival and to celebrate the arrival of the Commonwealth Games baton in Peterhead. These events will be announced in the near future when all the plans are finalised.
“After the success of last year’s Peterhead Running Festival we are delighted that Shell will again be the main sponsor of the festival. Without their generous sponsorship it would be impossible to put on an event of this scale in Peterhead.”
