Hill runners are being encouraged to go wild this month as part of the Fort William Mountain Festival. The festival will host a hill running night - Spink and Span, Let’s Go Wild! on Friday 20 February.
The event will feature hill runner and mountaineer, Finlay Wild, and hill runner, farmer and Ramsey Round record holder, Nicky Spinks, for an evening of film and chat. The evening’s programme will include the showing of The Dark Cuillin’, the new short film by UK-based dynamic lifestyle, adventure and landscape photographer Nadir Khan; and The Nevis Landscape Partnership film 'Ben Nevis: The Hidden Side'.
The hill running night will be followed by Scotland’s first running enduro event on Saturday 21 February. Based on the popular mountain bike enduro discipline The Fort William Runduro is a new creative multi-stage hill and trail half marathon taking on some of the most popular running routes in the ‘Outdoor Capital of the UK’.
The 22k route is broken down into eight timed stages making up 15km of the total distance. Race hard on the challenging mixed stages and then enjoy the transitions and await your cumulative time for the day's racing. The accumulated times over the sections are added to determine the winner. There will be overall category winners as well as prizes for the fastest
