Team GB runners Kyle Greig and Zoey Clark were on hand for the official launch of Run Garioch 2018. Entries for the popular event, which will take place on 25 March, are now open.
Just like in 2017, runners will have the choice of entering the 5k, 10k, half marathon and junior run – while all Run Garioch’s main sponsors have returned for 2018.
The half marathon will share the same route as the 10K until the turn-off at Polinar Dam. At that point, runners will take a left towards Burnhervie. They will then proceed to Chapel of Garioch, enjoying spectacular views of Bennachie along the way. A short downhill section then follows, before the now infamous climb at Dubstone. The race finishes at Garioch Sports Centre.
Making his debut as race director, Graham Morrison – previously race director of the Baker Hughes 10k and currently sports and events manager at Aberdeen Sports Village – said: “I’m delighted to take on the position of Run Garioch’s race drector, following the retirement of Eric Simpson.”
Further details about the event, including the new routes for the Junior Run and race-day timings, will be confirmed later in the year.
All proceeds from Run Garioch support the Garioch Sports Centre and other local charities.
Entries to the EBLAST 5k, Dandara 10k, RIM Fabrications Ltd Half Marathon and the CP&Co. Junior Runs are now open on Run Garioch website.
