Glasgow-based sports club Adventure Zone Scotland is encouraging people to 'follow in the way of the Romans' next month and take part in its new race, the Antonine Half Marathon Trail Race. The event takes place on 20 October near Kilsyth and Cumbernauld and follows the route of the Roman Antonine Wall.
The race is mostly off-road using trails and paths in and around the Kelvin area, starting at Antonine Community Sports Club, Croy and going through Kilsyth, Twechar then back to Croy via Bar Hill Forest and Croy Hill.
Both experienced trail racers and new runners are encouraged to take part as anyone of a reasonable fitness level will be able to complete the course. If the race is successful, there are plans to hold a full marathon in spring 2013, which could become a regular fixture.
For more details email the race organisers or go to the Adventure Zone Scotland website.
