Coinciding with Glasgow Pride weekend, Scotland’s largest LGBT+ running club, Glasgow Frontrunners is holding its first public race – the OUTrun – on Saturday 22 August. The five-mile event will be held in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Park along the Kelvin Walkway.

Race organiser Jason Bohan said: “The goal of OUTrun is to raise awareness of and promote LGBT+ visibility and participation in sport. As the recent Scottish LGBT Sports Charter published by the Equality Network highlighted there is a desperate need to remove barriers to participation in sport and one way we can do this is raise the profile of our LGBT+ sports clubs by holding a public event like this.”
Volunteer coordinator, Nicky Imrie, added: “OUTrun is also GFR’s way of giving something back to the wider running community by providing an additional event in the race calendar. We’re keen for runners, joggers and walkers to come along and join us on the day, and if you’re not running, why not volunteer? We need at least 35 volunteer marshals to make the event a success.”
Glasgow FrontRunners was set up five years ago by Kevin Boyle, Gordon Munro, and Simon Young, who will be starting the event. From only having a handful of members in its infancy, the club now has a membership of over 100.
