Preparations for Inverurie's Run Garioch on Sunday, March 18, are well underway with the recent launch of a new website. In addition, online registration for the event is now open, meaning runners can ensure their place for the 5k, 10k, half-marathon or Junior Run.
The website contains all the necessary information for prospective competitors including route maps, previous course records, training tips and prizes. Regarded as one of the north east's most popular runs, the event is hoping to attract 2,000 competitors.
In the lead up to the race, runners are being offered the opportunity to attend Garioch Sports Centre's '10 Weeks to Run Garioch' training programme. The programme, designed for all levels of competitor, involves guided runs, personalised advice from experienced coaches, and log-books that track each participant's progress.
Organisers held the registration evening for the programme in early December but runners can still sign up by calling the Garioch Sports Centre Reception. The next training session is scheduled for Monday, January 9, and finishes with Run Garioch itself on March 18.
With the event reaching capacity last year, runners are being encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. You can do so by visiting the website.
