Following our article on the plight of the Carnergie Harriers' Friday Night Series two mile race, which only attracted 8 runners last year. We are proud to report that this year's event was a tremendous success, attracting a record turnout of 35 participants! The star of the night was Inverclyde AC's Kevin Kane, who clocked an impressive 10.01 to win a closely contested race ahead of Pitreavie AAC's John Newsom.
Kenny Anderson finished third in a time of 10.19. Pitreavie's Chris Rennison was the leading junior, with a time of11.00, whilst local runner, Carnegie's Peter Humphreys was the first M40 finishing in 11.09. Gordon Pryde of Lomond Hill Runners won the M50 race in 12.23.
In the women's race Kathryn Pennel enjoyed an excellent run, winning in a time of 11.55 with Carnegie's Isobel Burnett finishing in second place, and first F50, in 13.40. Susan Cederstrom of Carnegie Harriers finished third in 14.15.
