To raise awareness and money for Refuge, the national domestic violence charity for women and children, make-up brand Benefit has organised a charity event that will see participants run from Scotland to London. Taking place from June 15 to June 29, the run will start at Edinburgh and stop off at Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Oxford and will cumulate in Spitalfields, London.
Participants will be required to cover two miles each and will pass on a mascara 'baton' from runner to runner as they pass through each city. The two miles each runner covers will mark the two women a week who lose their lives because of domestic violence.
Fronting the campaign is TV star Caroline Flack, who will also be kicking off proceedings in Edinburgh by running the opening two miles. Caroline commented: "I was thrilled to be an ambassador for the Benefit and Refuge Mascarathon. With one woman in every four experiencing domestic violence at some point in her life, I hope Mascarathon highlights this terrible statistic and in turn raises much needed funds for Refuge."
Along the way, there will be a range of consumer areas for runners and friends to visit including make-upper stations and sample giveaways. If you are interested in taking part, visit the Mascarathon website.
