Final Tips For Survival In Edinburgh

Runners taking on an obstacle in Edinburgh

The final race in the Men's Health Survival of the Fittest series is tomorrow and Scotland has its chance to shine as the 10K adventure race visits Edinburgh. Organisers have published some final tips to help Scots survive the race and make it the most successful yet. Last week's race in Nottingham saw almost 5,000 English runners battle it out on the original Survival course and Edinburgh will be transformed into a giant obstacle playground for this weekend's race.

Runners are reminded that they signed up to start the race at a specific wave time and these are the times that each runner will START the race, not the time they should arrive. Runners will be able to register in Princes Street Gardens from Saturday at 1pm and race organisers are urging competitors to do this, so that they can enjoy race day when it comes. Runners are also advised that the registration tent is a 15 minute walk from the start line, so they must arrive in plenty time to register and get to the start, if registering on the day.

The current weather forecast for Sunday is looking favourable for a fun adventure race, with cloudy skies and temperatures around 12 degrees, with a small chance of rain. Runners should remember to take care if there is any rainfall, as this may make obstacles slippy.

Road Safety

Race organisers have a number of road safety measures into place as there will be some interaction with live roads throughout the race course. Runners are asked to be vigilant at all times and look out for traffic, pedestrians and tourists, as well as obeying the strict WALK ZONES. These are small sections of the course where participants will be asked to walk through, by means of safety corridors when crossing live roads. These zones will be clearly marked and participants must obey the signs to ensure the race will be allowed to take place in Edinburgh in the future.

Event Location and Parking

The Event Village will be in West Princes Street Gardens, a 10 minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Railway Station. The nearest car parking facilities can be found at Castle Terrace NCP. The Event Village is 15 minutes walk away from the start line, however the finish and post race entertainment will all take place here. The infamous MH Wall of Fame is positioned here, the final obstacle in the race.

Good luck to all survivors in Sunday's event, use our tips above and enjoy yourself. For more information and details about registration and the event village, as well as a list of entrants, visit the MH Survival of the Fittest website.
