Entries are now open for the biggest club 10k in Glasgow – the Jimmy Irvine Bella 10K. Named after Bellahouston Roadrunner founder member, Jimmy Irvine, the race takes place on Saturday 8 November 2014 in Bellahouston Park.
Last year’s event sold out a few weeks in advance of race date so those thinking of entering are advised to do so without delay. The race course is entirely on tarmac paths and pavement within the park and surroundings. The course is generally flat with the odd incline, but nothing too troubling. There will be kilometre markers and one water station on the course just after 5K, with water available at the finish line.
After the race, participants head back to Mosspark Bowling Club where the club puts on its now famous post-race spread including teas, coffee, soft drinks, sandwiches, and lots of cake.
You can view a video from last year's event at the top of the page featuring broadcaster and runner Bryan Burnett.
Bryan says of the 10k: “I remember back in the old days when races here had about 20 or 30 people. I don’t think any of us would imagine that we’d be standing here with a totally sold-out event. And let’s face it, in the middle of November, which is brilliant to see!”
