Following the success of last year's EMF Marathon Evening, top fitness experts will be giving advice at a free workshop on 7 March. Runners of all abilities are invited to sign up for the event at Meadowbank Sports Centre, 139 London Road, Edinburgh from 7pm to 9:30pm. Experts will be on hand to discuss everything from training plans to nutrition, injury prevention to motivational techniques to help get people in the best possible shape.
EMF race director, Neil Kilgour, said: "Come and be inspired at our free spring training evening. We're proud that runners from more than 100 countries will take part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival in May, starting in the heart of Scotland's capital. For every single runner, their big day will mark the culmination of months of training and hard work. We'd like to help people towards that magical moment when they cross the finish line. Getting together with fellow runners and fitness experts is a great way to get race ready."
Alex McEwan, endurance coach with Edinburgh AC, will lead a coaching session with individually designed training schedules to suit every EMF race distance from the 5k through 10k and half marathon to the full 26.2 miles. Sarah Dempster, a nutritionist and personal trainer with Edinburgh Leisure, will be on hand to give advice on the best things to eat to fuel a race performance to be proud of and experts from running store Run and Become will share their knowledge and experience of running.
Those wishing to attend must book in advance. A maximum of four tickets per person are available and runners are advised to attend the training workshop dressed ready to run. To sign up, visit the Edinburgh Marathon website.
