If you're struggling to keep your New Year fitness resolution, why not set yourself the challenge of completing either a 5k, half marathon or full marathon this March? The Meadows Marathon is described as a fun-filled, relaxed event with a carnival atmosphere and takes place on the Edinburgh Meadows on 2 March 2014.
Runners of all abilities can take part in the event though there is a time limit of four and a half hours for the marathon and half marathon. Many participants use the full marathon as training for London, Paris or Edinburgh marathon, while casual runners are better suited to the half marathon and fun run.
The Meadows Marathon team are working to secure prizes for the top three male and female runners in each race, plus prizes for best individual and team fancy dress. The team has contacted lots of University of Edinburgh student societies to arrange entertainment for the day, so even if you're not running, you are encouraged to come along and support the runners and enjoy the atmosphere on the day.
You can sign up as an individual or as part of a team. The 5k Fun Run costs £10, half marathon £25, and full marathon £40. Those who sign up before 13 January will receive a 50% registration discount when registering with a friend. For more information and to register, visit the event website.
