Distance Controversy At Edinburgh Half

Controversy surrounded today's running of the ADT Edinburgh Half Marathon when it appeared that the event distance was longer than the standard 13.1 miles.

Race organisers posted provisional results but stated that: "The distance issue is under investigation. It measured correctly this morning and no issues with the UKA race referee. We have received reports that a cone was moved by someone lining the route." Modified results were expected later today.

Online feedback was generally favourable with one participant saying: "Definitely one of the better organised half marathons. And perfect weather and amazing scenery too. Great event guys well done."

Although numerous finishers were reporting Garmin readings of 13.4 and 13.5 miles.

Bryan Mackie continued a huge weekend for Edinburgh AC finishing in first place in 1:14:09 with Kidst Yichenku fastest woman in 1:19:59. Kieran Healey was mid-point runner in 1:58 and the race was completed on 3:55
