The Devilla Is In The Tough Trail

A tough test awaits runners at Sunday’s (18 February) Devilla Forest 5 and 15. While the surroundings will be picturesque, the tricky conditions combined with the winter weather will certainly play a part.

The Devilla Forest 15 is a 15k trail race that begins and finishes within the grounds of the Scottish Police College at Tulliallan, Kincardine. The race follows a relatively flat circular loop of Devilla Forest, taking in a mix of fire-roads, paths and single track. The route skirts three lochs and goes through a variety of sheltered woodland. Ground conditions vary from boggy to hard packed. The 5K also starts in the Police College grounds and follows a loop around the Moor Loch within the forest.

The courses will be marshalled and arrowed at all junctions. The safety of all is paramount and it is a condition of entry that competitors must follow the instructions of the marshals at all times.

Last year runABC’s Alex Osborne gave the event a glowing endorsement, he said: “This is a must do on the race calendar for any trail runner. The undulating forest tracks, mixed up with winding trails through the trees and by the loch sides make for a stunning course. Add in the mud, deep and shoe-sucking bog in places, and the fast slightly downhill and very well supported finish, made for an excellent race.”

Entries for both races are now closed, for results please check our Race Listing Section on Sunday evening.
