Imaginative race organiser Chris Gray and his enthusiastic band of event regulars are looking forward to a landmark occasion on Saturday 24 August. The date is four years on from the inaugural DB12Run event which took place on 22 August 2015 and Chris and the team are keen to welcome back runners who were in attendance that day.
Strathclyde Park is the regular venue for DB12Run events and the scenic Lanarkshire location will again stage their celebration DB12Run Four Years Running 6K & 12K. As is standard at DB12Run events participants will collect a trophy and goody bag while cakes and chocolates will aid race recovery and help create a solid post-race buzz. Raffle prizes to be won will include golf days, and football tours and tickets.
There will be a particular welcome for Canix runners, dogs will receive a unique gift, which is appropriate given that this event is a fundraiser for Staffordshire Rescue Scotland. 100% of the money raised from raffle and donations will all go to the charity.
DB12 – the DB stands for diabetes and the 12 for type 1 & 2 – held their first event to raise funds for Diabetes Scotland and the Nicola Murray Foundation in 2015. They’ve not looked back since. Chris Gray told runABC Scotland: "I can't believe that it's four years since we started. We have staged 37 events since 2015 and supported a wide range of good causes including Diabetes Scotland, children's charity Seamab, the Nicola Murray Foundation, Ovarian Cancer and Scottish SPCA."
We're looking forward to another big day on Saturday 24 August and to welcoming back old friends and seeing new ones.
