While weekend mornings during winter usually revolve keeping warm and avoiding anything too strenuous, jogscotland\'s Christmas Cracker event will ensure you don\'t fall into hibernation with their 5k run this Sunday. (December 4)
Organised in association with Run 4 It and North Lanarkshire Leisure, the race, which takes place at Strathclyde Park, hopes to boost the motivation levels of runners and non-runners alike during the darker, colder weather.
Now in its sixth year, the event is guaranteed to be a fun day out for all the family and a great way to absolve the guilt of that second helping of Christmas dinner. Jogscotland manager Alistair Currie gives another compelling reason to take part: "Training for a Christmas event provides the perfect excuse to escape the busy shops, crowded parties or demanding families, for a short burst of \'you time\' in the fresh air."
Last year, the Christmas Cracker 5k attracted almost 500 Christmas-clad participants keen to experience a fun filled festive walk, jog or run around the beautiful Strathclyde Loch. All competitors will receive a t-shirt, good bag and medal, while prizes will be awarded for the best fancy dress.
