Fresh from the success of last month's event, which saw 90% of the field complete the 69 mile course, Rat Race Adventures has opened entries for their gruelling ultra, The Wall. The event, which sees participants traversing the frontier of the Roman Empire near to Hadrian's Wall, is due to take place on 21 and 22 June, 2014.
The 69 mile ultra begins at Carlisle Castle and finishes at Gateshead Millennium Bridge, featuring both city and countryside over a mixed-terrain route. As the only organised ultra at this World Heritage site, participants will experience special access with certain sections of the route.
The Wall can be attempted either as a two-day challenge - Challenger category - with an overnight camp in the central section of the Hadrian's Wall corridor next to the famous Roman fort of Vindolanda, or in a continuous attempt - 'Expert' category. Relay teams of 2, 3, and 4 can also compete.
Those looking to take part in The Wall can take advantage of early bird entry until 31 August. To register, visit the event website.
