Chicago Marathon returns to the Windy City on Sunday 8 October 2017 to celebrate its 40th anniversary. Runners can apply for guaranteed entries until 29 November. Applications for non-guaranteed entries will be available from 1–29 November.
Chicago Marathon passes through 29 neighbourhoods and takes in sights such as Grant Park, Lake Michigan, Lincoln Park, Wrigley Field, Sears Tower and Michigan Avenue. The event is renowned for having a fast, flat course with elite and recreational runners alike targeting it for PBs, national and world records.
The course has produced four world records, several national records, and countless personal bests.
This year’s race saw more than 40,000 finishers, including former supermodel Christy Turlington and comedian Rob Riggle. Abel Kirui of Kenya won the men’s race in 2:11:23, with Florence Kiplagat fastest female in 2:21:32.
