2016 will see the Virgin Money London Marathon celebrate its one millionth runner crossing the finishing line. To celebrate, Virgin Money Giving has teamed up with MasterCard to give one runner the chance to win a £25,000 donation for the charity of their choice.
The promotion is open to all fundraisers raising money for the 2016 Virgin Money London Marathon using Virgin Money Giving. Every donation made to a fundraiser's page using a MasterCard, between 1 and 15 April, represents an entry into the prize draw to win their chosen charity a £25,000 donation.
Jo Barnett, executive director at Virgin Money Giving said: "As a single-day charity fundraising event, there is no race in the world that comes close to the Virgin Money London Marathon. It is estimated that more than three quarters of competitors now run for a good cause and 2015 saw it set a world record for an annual single-day charity fundraising event for the ninth successive year. We want to help that become 10 in 2016, when the millionth runner will cross the finish line. To help celebrate this milestone, Virgin Money Giving have teamed up with MasterCard to reward one lucky fundraiser running this year's event with a £25,000 donation towards their chosen charity."
