A 32-year-old mother from Oxfordshire has laid claim to a world record for running a marathon while pushing a buggy. Jessica Bruce of Headington completed the Abingdon Marathon on Sunday 18 October whilst pushing seven-month-old son Daniel in 3:17:52. It beats the previous recorded best by 14 minutes.

Jessica told the BBC that she was now awaiting official confirmation from Guinness and added: "We did so much training on hilly courses so this was easier than I expected. We went off at an even pace and it was really good. Daniel was a star."
A running enthusiast with a marathon best of 2:58 Jessica said: "I thought I would be running slower than usual so I thought I'd set up another kind of challenge for it. Daniel loves it, he loves watching the trees and is absolutely happy when he's awake."
Sunday was the 34th edition of Abingdon Marathon and saw 1200 people complete the course.
