“Earlier this year I decided to run my first marathon in aid of Bowel Cancer UK. 22 years ago my mum died from the disease, I was just 12 years old at the time. My mum was a very positive person and she fought the disease until the end. Unfortunately her cancer was not detected early enough and less than a year after her diagnosis she passed away.
Lizzie continued: "Taking on this incredible challenge came with some aches and pains but I loved every minute of the day. I am so happy to have raised vital funds for Bowel Cancer UK and can’t wait to choose my next challenge.”
Last year Bowel Cancer UK and Beating Bowel Cancer merged to become the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. Our vision is a world where no one dies from bowel cancer so people like Lizzie do not lose their mum at such a young age but we can’t achieve this alone. If you like Lizzie, are looking for your next challenge then why not join Team Bowel Cancer UK/ Beating Bowel Cancer and help us make this a reality.
