A 30k duathlon has been added to the RunBalmoral programme of races on 25 and 26 April 2015. The Balmoral festival of running already attracts more than 5,000 people with 10k and 5k adult races, alongside 2.5k and 1.5k junior events.
The duathlon is to feature a challenging 5k run, followed by a dramatic 20k mountain biking stage before finishing off with a second 5k run around a specially designed course through the grounds of the royal estate.
RunBalmoral chairman, James Knowles, is delighted with the new initiative: “This promises to be a fantastic addition to our already varied programme of races. Apollo came to us with the idea and we were only too happy to take it on board. RunBalmoral is evolving and developing all the time and the Apollo duathlon will complement our other races perfectly. It is certainly an exciting step forward."
200 places will be available for the inaugural race but this is expected to be expanded in future years. Entries will open, along with places for all the other Balmoral races, in September.
