With the success of the 2014 Commonwealth Games and the great performances of Team GB at the European Championships, athletics has undoubtedly been in the spotlight recently. To celebrate this newfound enthusiasm, West Dunbartonshire Athletics Club has organised the Balloch Run’n’Park Half Marathon, 10-mile, 10K and 5K, and the 2014 Metre Family Legacy Walk, Jog or Run on Sunday 21 September in Balloch Country Park.
The 10-mile and 10K runs make ideal preparation for those taking part in the Great Scottish Run in Glasgow on 5 October while the 2014 Metre Family Legacy Walk, Jog or Run is aimed at ‘family members, junior heroes, little stars and runners of all ages’. No registration required for the Family Legacy event and the course distance of 2014 metres will be marked out with directional signs and there will also be stewards on hand. Organisers stress that participants must be prepared with appropriate clothing and footwear.
There are parking spaces available around the area of the park and toilet access is available next to the bus terminus and also at Balloch Castle.
