The Babcock 10K Series will continue a run of 35 unbroken years for the popular late spring races, formerly the Polaroids. The 2018 series gets underway on Thursday 10 May (7.30pm) in Helensburgh and continues on Thursday 17 May (again 7.30pm) in Dumbarton. The three-race series culminates with the Babcock Shettleston 10K and a fast flat record-breaking course on Glasgow Green on Sunday 27 May (10.00am).
Wayney Ghebresilassie from home club Shettleston scorched round the final race in 30.11 last year to come up just shy of the time bonus but clubmate, Fionnuala Ross made no mistake in the women’s race with an impressive 34.25.
Every finisher will receive a unique commemorative medal , featuring iconic local landmarks, together with a Start Fitness/More Mile goody bag and Strathmore water. Series entrants will also receive a specially designed Babcock 10K Series technical T-shirt.
There are more than £3,000 in Start Fitness/More Mile category awards, dozens of spot prizes and chip timing. There are some great series offers at just £40.00 for all three races for affiliated runners and £46.00 for unaffiliated runners.
