Two runners going through woodland at Aviemore Half

Two runners going through woodland at Aviemore Half

This October be inspired by beautiful Loch Morlich and the majestic splendour of the landscape and the Cairngorm Mountains by signing up for Aviemore Half Marathon or 10K.

The start is approx 1100 ft above sea level with the Cairngorm Mountains setting a spectacular backdrop. The first 7 miles are off road on forest tracks through Glenmore Forest Park and Glenmore village before crossing the road and onto another forest track around Loch Morlich and then onto the public road where there are appropriate traffic controls in place.

The route continues past Coylumbridge and Inverdruie then crosses the road by the Fish Farm and over the Spey River by the pedestrian footbridge. The last short section goes under the main Highland railway line, across Aviemore main street and then past the Strathspey Hotel to a  welcome Finish line approx 720 ft above sea level.

Conditions are a mixture of good solid forest track, paths and tarmac roads – a normal good supportive running shoe is required.

There'll be markers every mile and three water stations on the route. The course is well marshaled and signed and will remain manned until the last runner passes.
