Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) has partnered parkrun worldwide in a charity initiative that challenges runners to donate the equivalent of their best parkrun times in cash to the fight against the disease. Donate Your Time is the name of the project that aims to defeat our biggest killer with 850,000 people currently suffering from dementia in the UK.
Every parkrun participant until Christmas Eve will receive a link in their results email that will allow them to turn their finishing time into a one-off donation to ARUK. Faster runners could choose to donate double their time and more casual runners may choose to donate half their time. Alternatively, why not donate your PB and give your best effort to support a wonderful cause?
If you miss the parkrun email or do not run one before Christmas you can still donate the UK average parkrun time (27:50) or any other amount of your choice directly through the dedicated ARUK website.
Santa Forgot, ARUK's hugely successful Christmas campaign, has been viewed by 6.6 million people. The touching and informative video can be viewed by clicking here.
Donate Your Time has the full backing of parkrun and Paul Sinton-Hewitt, parkrun founder, said: “I’ve been so proud to watch us go from strength to strength over the past two years since we partnered with Alzheimer’s Research UK. You’ve now raised a staggering £320,000. I’ve never been so proud to see our movement changing lives and giving hope to the 850,000 people living with dementia”.
