Aberdonians will have an opportunity to discuss a variety of topics with experienced and knowledgeable runners at a series of clinics from September to December. The Running Clinic will be held on the first Monday of every month, at 7:30pm.
The sessions will be hosted by Fraser Clyne, and Mel and Myles Edwards. The three will answer questions on any running related issues whether they concern motivation, speed training, long runs, nutrition, competition, commitment and making the necessary sacrifices.
Fraser is a former international marathon runner with a best time of 02:11:50. He is also one of Aberdeen's fastest 3k,5k, 10k and half marathon runners. Myles is a middle distance runner specialising in 800 metres and is the second fastest ever Aberdeen runner over that distance. He lives between Aberdeen and Kenya where he trains at altitude alongside some of the world's top athletes. He also leads a weekly coaching session in Aberdeen for runners of all standards. Mel (Myles' father) is also a former international marathon runner with a personal best of 2 hours 18 minutes 24 seconds. He is a UK Athletics Level 4 endurance coach and has dealt with cancer on three occasions. Mel was recently awarded an MBE for his services to athletics and charity.
The costs are £5 per session (£2.50 for under-16s) and there is a maximum of 60 places available at each clinic. The dates for the clinics are: 2 September, 7 October, 4 November and 2 December.
