West Dunbartonshire jogscotland leader, Maurice Donohue, is encouraging runners to join him as he tackles his 40th race of 2013 on Sunday (22 September). The SAMH half marathon and 10k training runs is part of Maurice's Mo Go 50 Challenge which involves running 50 half marathons in 2013 to raise funds for Scottish Association for Mental Health. He has also added a third SAMH half marathon, planned for Sunday 3 November.
Maurice said: "Further to the success and positive feedback about the training run on 23 June, I have added two more dates in order to bring people together to take part in an event that will promote SAMH and also give those an opportunity to complete a 10k or half marathon distance within the local area."
With the Great Scottish Run (10k and half marathon taking place on 6 October, what better way to prepare for the event by completing a half marathon or 10k distance on 22 September 2013."
The half marathon and 10k training run will both start at the Meadow Centre on Bankhead Road in Dumbarton. The half marathon route goes past St Patrick's Primary and the Sports Pavilion before turning back at Dalmuir Drop Lock. The 10k follows the same route only turning back at Milton roundabout. You can view both half marathon and 10k routes on the mapymyrun website.
To enter either event, email firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information: name, contact telephone number, event - half marathon or 10k, and t-shirt size. The events are free but if you wish to sponsor Maurice, you can do so by visiting his JustGiving page.
