5x50 Challenge

5x50 Challenge

With the success of communal fitness challenges such as December's Marcothon, a Glasgow team have set a new task to encourage people to run, walk, jog or cycle 5k every day for 50 days. The 5x50 challenge, which begins on September 9 and finishes on October 28, aims to make sport a feature of everyone's daily life and to experience the psychological and physical benefits of increased fitness. As with Marcothon or Janathon, the challenge invites participants to share their experiences, events, and training advice through an online community.

In the website for the 5x50 challenge, founder Kelly Mason reflects a 50 day run she completed last December and why everyone should take part in the upcoming event: "And then on day fifty-one / I didn't get to go out and run / Something felt missing / I itched to remember / Something you'll share this September!"

The core team is made up of 7 members, with each providing their own reasons for taking part in the 5x50 Challenge. For more information, visit the event website or follow them on twitter.
