Event of the Week

Saltire 24

Woman runs into the sunset

The Saltire 24 is the first ultra running event in the North East of Scotland. Celebrate midsummer by running through the night and testing your stamina!

This lapped endurance trail race is set at the superb outdoor facility of Knockburn Sports Loch and offers two race options: either 24 hours, starting at 10:00 on the Saturday of the event weekend (20 June), or 12 hours, starting at 22:00 on Saturday evening.

Participants will follow way-marked trails within the confines of Knockburn Sports Loch. The scenic route consists of a mixture of grass, gravel and moorland paths. Please note that only ONE team member will be running at any time. The lap distance is 4.2 miles, so determined athletes can achieve the coveted 100 miles target within 24 hours if they complete 1 lap per hour.

The team option offers less extreme runners a great opportunity to take part in this epic event: they can share the running load between the team members and enjoy the festival spirit together.

Safety marshals and medics will be located around the course. Camping space and access to a shower block are available for the duration of the event. Peripheral support will be available at the event base. There will be catering, music, shop and more, and the Red Bull event team will be in attendance with a drinks station and entertainment.

The Saltire 24’s partner charity Chest Heart Stroke Scotland are offering a limited amount of pledge places – you can apply online for a ‘free’ entry to raise funds for this life changing organisation!
