Towards the end of last year, while training hard for the Berlin Marathon, I unfortunately suffered a stress fracture to my pelvis. This was diagnosed in November last year and promptly put me in the pool aqua jogging instead of pounding the pavements on my usual 90 mile a week training programme. Since then, the week after Christmas I started back out jogging on the roads, slowly introducing myself back into the running mechanics and building leg strength however I have lost my competitive running mojo and so I thought maybe a new focus might help me get back into the swing of things.

If you're a runner it tends to be a way of life. Something you get used to, something you don't like to miss. It can feel like a duty sometimes, even a chore. We all know that it can be hard work. Sure it's a brilliant cardiovascular workout that gets the heart pumping and the oxygen flowing. After a long run or a hard session you feel great but you've really earned that 'feel good' factor - that sense of well-being, that beer, that big slice of chocolate cake.

The Scottish Running Guide Marcothon team is still on course to complete the 31 day endurance test with Rory McGinlay, Stevie Bell and Terry Brennan all having logged around 100 miles. Despite assorted colds and sniffles, and tightening calves and hamstrings the trio have ticked off 20 days and are now set for the home straight.
