Brooks Glycerin 8
The Glycerin is Brooks' top cushioning shoe. It has enjoyed a reputation for being reliability, comfort and protection through its evolution. I remember the first Glycerin I tried on - it was like wandering about in a pair of carpet slippers - and for the next 500 miles or so they proved a solid friend. I wouldn't have used them on race day - I didn't think responsiveness was their best quality - but for high mileage runners in the heavier weight range the Glycerin has always been a very good solution.

Well not according to new research that has looked at the powerful effects of antioxidants for developing and maintaining a healthy immune system. A healthy immune system is essential for the body to perform optimally and getting good quality sleep and limiting the level of stress experienced helps maintain this system. What we eat also has an important role to play in maintaining antioxidant levels in the body.

Ladies running brand Thoosa have just launched their 2010 collection, with some fantastic additions to their (already highly successful) categories; Swift, City and Chill. The Swift range is made up of a runner's core essentials while the City range has been designed for the more modest and stylish runner to feel comfortable in an urban setting. Cross Country - One Woman's View →

The third and final race of the Scottish East District Cross Country League was held on Saturday, January 16. The League which includes races for: girls and boys; juniors; seniors and masters kicked off in October in Stirling, before moving to Dunfermline in November and finally Broxburn this month. 19 year old Sarah Inglis of Lothian RC won the final women’s race, completing the 6k course in an impressive time of 24:11. Fife AC’s Helen Sharpe (29) placed runner up with 24:24, whilst Edinburgh AC’s veteran Jennifer MacLean (36) completed the very icy course in 24:40.
Christine Eadie (V45) of Falkirk Victoria Harriers finished in 55th position, out of a total of 73 finishers, with a time of 32:27. www.scottishrunningguide.com asked Christine to tell us how she got into cross country and to share her experience of the recent Broxburn race with our readers.
